Even when we try to avoid known toxins, it isn’t possible if you are out and about in public places. Without meaning to, you are exposed to toxic synthetic fragrances, mold, chemicals from the out-gassing of new furniture, carpet, and paint. Then there is the environmental pollution from smoke and smog. And as time goes on, you may be exercising less, spending less time outdoors, and eating fewer fruits and vegetables. All of this can result in weight gain, low energy, a weakened immune system, and inflammation throughout the body. Besides eating a healthful and mostly plant based organic diet, here are some ways to get your body back on track.
Get Good Sleep
Quality sleep is one of the most fundamental components for everyone to be healthy and perform at their optimal. Lack of sleep creates a heightened stress response within the body that disrupts normal healing and rejuvenation processes. When the body has a heightened stress response it lowers immune function and increases inflammatory processes. Not getting adequate sleep leads to chronic stress, inflammation and a weakened immune system.
In addition, we now know that that sleep allows your brain to cleanse and detoxify itself. This cleansing is important for both short and long-term memory and for good cognitive processing. Sleep needs vary depending on many things, ranging from age, lifestyle, health status, and even gender. The recommended sleep duration for the average adult is between seven to nine hours every night. Athletes, however, may need an extra hour on average in order to allow their systems to respond to muscular breakdown.
Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is vital for your health. Some side effects of dehydration include headaches, lack of energy, weight gain, lack of cleansing and detoxification, a weakened immune response, getting colds and flus easily, and feeling lethargic or even experiencing brain fog. Drinking water will help detoxify the body and as well as insure proper maintenance of the digestive system and other important organs. Sadly, municipal water is extraordinarily toxic to the body and destroys the immune system. The water is typically loaded with environmental toxins such as chlorine, DBP’s, arsenic, heavy metals, hormones, and other harmful substances. Proper water filtration is essential to remove these chemical agents.
You can some of liquid you need from moisture rich foods like oatmeal. There are some of the most hydrating fruits and vegetables: celery, watermelon, cucumber, kiwi, bell peppers, citrus fruit, carrots, pineapple, iceberg lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, cauliflower, spinach, berries and broccoli. On top of that, fruits and vegetables are packed with electrolytes. which aids in hydration.
Daily Exercise
The body needs good posture, deep breathing and a well trained muscular and cardiovascular system for optimal physical well-being. Regular exercise which includes walking enhance immunity. Additionally, exercise oxygenates tissue cells and improves the energy output of the immune system. If you exercise enough to sweat, you will be detoxing at the same time as you are strengthening your body’s cardiovascular and immune systems. Using a mini-trampoline is great way to get needed exercise plus it increases lymph fluid circulation, which helps boost the immune system. It’s as simple as bouncing up and down for 3 sets of 20-30 bounces.
Healthy Detox Drink
This is a simple beverage recipe that takes only minutes to prepare and includes key ingredients for natural detoxification. The basic recipe includes lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper. It’s both refreshing and energizing, and is supportive of reducing inflammation. It can be taken first thing in the morning as a daily detox tonic. For more support, you can take it again two more times throughout the day, 20 minutes before a meal. If you would like to add some sweetness to the drink, consider adding 1 tsp of raw, local honey. This can be really useful if you are prone to seasonal allergies.
- 1 glass of warm or hot water
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ½–1 teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
Celery Juice
Anthony William is the author of the very popular book – “Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time”. He explains the power of celery juice and the many ways it helps detox and heal the body. Celery is an herb (not a vegetable) that when juiced and consumed on an empty stomach every morning, can support the body in flushing out toxins. It also disperses fat cells that attach to and surround toxins, cleanses the liver, and allows the entire body to function better.
